Video/Action for Cherrygrove

Well...I made it. This town isn't much bigger than the last, though. Are they all around the same size? I thought I had heard there were bigger cities further on...

Er, anyway, I also heard about Pokemon...eggs? I was looking through my things and I found a handbook for Pokemon Breeders, which I apparently have been classified as. I only flipped through it, honestly, but it seems to go on to say that all Pokemon lay eggs? That...can't be right. I mean, I definitely expect it of bird Pokemon and reptiles, but mammals? You can't expect me to believe a bear lays eggs.

Speaking of bears, I was thinking of giving my Cubchoo a name. Does anyone think I'd get in trouble for using "Knut"? Since he is technically a polar bear and all...

Thank you all in advance!

I don't know what "scientifically" is, but it happens here, even though it can't happen in the world that I'm from.

I've never heard of platypuses before.

There are a lot of strange things here, especially with the Pokémon. Like how even if they should be strong enough they can't carry you across the water or through the air unless you use the Surf or Fly HMs on them.

[He's never heard of Australia before and assumes that it's a location in Bill's world, not knowing enough about his own to know that there's an Australia in his world too. He doesn't care enough to ask about it. He's more interested in the parts of the conversation that have to do with animals.]

What do they look like?

Some of them do. Furret's big enough to ride, but the shape of her body makes it hard to stay on, so when she uses Surf she holds a rope in her mouth and pulls me. Once she moves fast enough I can kind of stand on the water. It's fun. Fearow's large enough for me to ride on his back while he's flying, and Golurk's large enough that I can stand on its shoulder while it's flying. Flying's really amazing. You should try it if you ever get a chance.

You shouldn't if they don't want to, but the ones with me haven't minded. I usually just walk if I can, but if you want to cross the water or go somewhere quickly you'll need to find a Pokémon who'll let you ride them and get the HMs you need. If you're a trainer instead of a breeder you'll need to get badges to use them too for some reason.

I am too. The Pokémon with me wanted to challenge some of the gyms so I have all but one of the HMs now, but you can always just find someone who will let you use their HMs to teach the moves to the Pokémon you have with you, if they can learn those moves, and you won't have to beat the gyms if the Pokémon with you don't want to.

I don't either. Some Pokémon seem to like fighting, but unless you're feeding yourself or defending yourself or someone else you shouldn't hurt anyone. I try to avoid fighting other Pokémon while I'm traveling and I tell the Pokémon with me to make sure that the Pokémon they meet want to fight before they attack. They really wanted to challenge some of the gyms so I let them, but I'm not going to try to win all of the badges like some people do.

Most of them can understand human words. I can talk to animals, so it's a lot easier for me, but even for people who can't they can understand what you ask them to do.

It doesn't mean that they'll do what you want even though they understand you though.

I guess so? I've always been able to talk to animals, so it's normal for me. Before I came here I thought that everyone could.

That's what I've been told.

They do, but usually not very complicated things. Pokémon can say things that are a lot more complicated than other animals though. They're interesting to talk to.

[Apollo's opinion of you has just gone up, Bill. He smiles.]

It's definitely interesting.

Even if you can't talk to them like me, if you pay attention to their calls, body language, and behaviour you'll be able to understand some of what they're saying and feeling after a while.
